Webinar: Marketing in the Age of AI

Submitted by admin on Tue, 07/06/2021 - 00:00

Please join us on July 6, 2021 for this special webinar with CEIBS Professor Wang Qi on Marketing in the Age of AI.

About the Webinar

Many companies have devoted considerable investment in developing artificial intelligence (AI) applications in the marketing field, from AI-enabled chatbots and personalized recommendation systems to AI-powered dynamic pricing and other automations for marketing optimizations.

As AI is increasingly deployed in marketing functions, it also creates fears and challenges to humans in general but also more specifically to professionals involved in marketing-related fields. Many questions remain for AI-driven marketing: What roles do marketers play in AI applications? How should marketers collaborate with AI? How do consumers respond to AI applications when they interact with AI machines?

In this webinar, CEIBS Professor of Marketing Wang Qi will review some recent developments in AI in the field of marketing. Prof. Wang will also examine recent research findings regarding:

  1. The benefits/challenges of AI applications in marketing; and,
  2. The relationship between humans and AI and the future of AI in marketing.

How can Managers in China Win the High-Tech Race? Insights from Silicon Valley and Germany

Submitted by admin on Wed, 06/16/2021 - 00:00

CEIBS Global EMBA is partnering with the Canada China Business Council to present this exclusive webinar. Please join us on June 16, 2021 to hear from CEIBS Professor Richard Carney on How can Managers in China Win the High-Tech Race? Insights from Silicon Valley and Germany.

About the Webinar

Chinese high-tech companies are racing to become global leaders in key technologies, ranging from fifth generation wireless networks and artificial intelligence (AI) to automated factories and autonomous driving. Beijing’s commitment to spend more than one trillion dollars on key technologies over the next five years has energised this frenzied race.

Money helps, but it’s not everything. The structure of the innovation ecosystem in which the company is located is also, if not more, critical. There are two main types – those which promote disruptive innovations, like Silicon Valley, and those which encourage incremental innovations, as in Germany.

As managers in China rush to transform their high-tech start-ups into global tech leaders, where should they look for inspiration? Silicon Valley stars such as Google and Apple or Germany’s Mittelstand (small and medium-sized firms) champions, such as Bausch + Ströbel? The answer may surprise you. We will explore this along with much more in this exclusive webinar.

Our Speaker

Dr. Richard W. Carney is in the Department of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS). His teaching and research interests primarily focus on business-government relations. He is the author of Authoritarian Capitalism: Sovereign Wealth Funds and State-Owned Enterprises in East Asia and Beyond (Cambridge University Press, 2018), which won the 2019 Masayoshi Ohira Prize. A paper utilising the framework developed in the book won the Best Paper Award on Emerging Economies Research at the 2018 Academy of International Business Meeting; another paper building on the same framework was a finalist for the GW-CIBER Best Paper Award on Emerging Markets at the 2019 Academy of Management Meeting.

Professor Carney has published numerous articles in journals such as the Journal of Financial Economics, Business and Politics, and the Review of International Political Economy. He is also the author of Contested Capitalism: The Political Origins of Financial Systems (2009) and is the editor of Lessons from the Asian Financial Crisis (2009).

Prior to joining CEIBS, he taught at the Australian National University and at the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. He was also a Jean Monnet Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy.

Executive Forum: Challenges and Opportunities for the Construction Equipment Industry and LiuGong’s Path to Globalisation

Submitted by admin on Sat, 06/12/2021 - 00:00

Please join us for our upcoming CEIBS Executive Forum on June 12, 2021, with Mr. Zeng Guang’an, Chairman and CEO of Guangxi LiuGong Machinery Group, who will give a lecture on Challenges and Opportunities for the Construction Equipment Industry and LiuGong’s Path to Globalisation.

The construction equipment industry serves as an important pillar in every country’s economy. It is closely related to the construction of infrastructure and is regarded as a barometer of economic development. The Sino-US trade war and COVID-19 have had a profound impact on the global economy, and the development of the construction equipment industry has also been deeply affected. What are some of the current opportunities and challenges for the construction equipment industry? Will the pattern of the global construction equipment industry change radically in the future?

Chinese enterprises are regarded as latecomers to the construction equipment industry. Nevertheless, China has shifted from early technology importer to present day R&D innovator and from a focus on the domestic economy market to one on the global market. In just 20 years, Chinese enterprises have done what European and American brands took almost half a century to complete. So, what drives Chinese construction equipment enterprises to globalisation? And what kind of experience do these enterprises have along their journey to globalisation?

We look forward to seeing you at this much anticipated event.

About the speaker

Mr. Zeng Guang’an has been in the construction equipment industry over 35 years. He started his career at LiuGong as an engineer in 1985. In 1995, Mr. Zeng was appointed CFO & Vice President and promoted to President in July 1999.

He was appointed Chairman of Guangxi LiuGong Machinery in January 2014. Mr. Zeng Guang’an also serves as Vice President of the China Chamber of International Commerce Guangxi Branch. He received his bachelor’s degree in mining machinery and Masters in Technical Economy Management from Chongqing University.
