CEIBS Professor Zhao Xiande Named DSI Fellow
November 23, 2020. Shanghai – CEIBS Professor of Operations and Supply Chain Management Zhao Xiande was today awarded the designation of Fellow by the Decision Sciences Institute (DSI) in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of decision sciences.
Prof. Zhao is the JD.com Chair in Operations and Supply Chain Management, Director of CEIBS-GLP Centre for Innovation in Supply Chains and Services and Co-Director of the Digital Transformation of Enterprises Course at CEIBS. He is an award-winning research scholar and has been recognized as one of the World’s Most Cited Chinese Researchers by Elsevier. His research focuses on supply chain management and innovation, network-based service and business model innovation, supply chain finance, supply chain integration, digital supply chain and supply chain optimization using big data.
The designation of DSI Fellow is awarded to DSI members who are eminent scholars in and have made substantive research contributions to the field of decision sciences and are involved in DSI activities beyond attending and making presentations at conferences. The award takes into consideration a variety of factors, including number of high-quality publications, research awards, citations, editorial positions and keynote speeches.
Prof. Zhao has published more than 180 papers in leading academic journals. In a recent report published by the International Journal of Production Economics, he was ranked either first or second in Asia according to multiple indicators regarding leadership in supply chain management (SCM) research. His co-authored paper entitled, “Decision Sciences Research in China: Current Status, Opportunities, and Propositions for Research in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, and Quality Management”, in Decision Sciences Journal is ranked as the ninth most downloaded paper in the 50-year history of the journal. In addition, Prof. Zhao has also won the Jack Meredith Best Paper Award from the Journal of Operations Management in recognition of the article published by the journal that has had the most impact over the past five years.
Prof. Zhao has served as President and Vice President of the Asia Pacific Decision Sciences Institute, Associate Editor of Decision Sciences Journal, speaker and panellist for DSI. He is the author of five influential books and has provided training and consulting services for dozens of major corporations. He also maintains an exemplary record and is widely recognized for his innovative teaching of MBA, EMBA, and executive education students. In part, this is due in part to his more than 20 teaching cases focusing on supply chain innovation issues of Chinese enterprises, several of which have won awards in global case competitions.
