News and Events Highlights 2023
December 12, 2022. Shanghai – After three years of challenging interruptions and difficulties, 2023 saw a welcome return to normality for the CEIBS community, allowing us once again to travel, regroup, and reconnect. Read on for a selection of highlights from a year that gave us a great deal to celebrate.
In February, the CEIBS MBA programme was named #1 in Asia in the Financial Times MBA ranking for the seventh consecutive year; the ranking also marked the 20th consecutive year that the programme has appeared in the global top 20.
In the Forbes China 100 Top Businesswomen List for 2023, announced in March, an incredible 13 CEIBS alumnae were listed, working in industries as diverse as electrical manufacturing, healthcare, biopharmaceuticals, retail, new energy, and high-tech.
Later in March, it was announced that a historic high of 16 CEIBS faculty had made the 2022 list of Highly-Cited Chinese Researchers released by world-leading academic publisher Elsevier, demonstrating the strength of our faculty and our commitment to world-class research.
April saw an incredibly significant moment in the school’s history with the welcoming of Professor of General Management and Leadership Frank Bournois as Vice President and Dean of CEIBS, taking over from Professor of Accounting Ding Yuan.
In August, our Shanghai campus welcomed 120 students hailing from across the globe into our MBA Class of 2025. As ever, the event resonated with excitement and anticipation as this group of young professionals embarked on a unique journey towards mastering business administration.
In 2023, CEIBS continued its efforts to make strides in its commitment to green energy, as evidenced by the September release of our Carbon Disclosure Report. The detailed document highlights the significant progress that the school has made in its environmental initiatives, as well as the challenges and opportunities that await us in 2024.
October saw the offline return of the International Business Leaders’ Advisory Council for the Mayor of Shanghai (IBLAC) forum; CEIBS was honoured to host a pre-forum dialogue, welcoming global CEOs and Chinese entrepreneurs to our Shanghai campus to engage in open discussion on the outlook for Chinese businesses and the world economy.
Later in October, CEIBS received the momentous news that our GEMBA programme had been ranked #2 in the world by the Financial Times for the fourth year in a row, a testament to the faculty, students, alumni and staff that continue to make the programme a global leader.
CEIBS was thrilled to welcome Mr. Micheál Martin TD, Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs for Ireland, to our Shanghai campus in November, offering MBA and GEMBA students the chance to interact with and gain insights from a significant European leader.
November saw us further solidify our international standing with two significant international forums, held across three cities in Brussels, Paris, and Shanghai. The exciting events featured frank and stimulating discussions between senior international figures, generating notable international media coverage.
In December, we marked two significant research milestones, with eight CEIBS cases appearing on the Harvard Bestseller List and our number of total cases published on Harvard Business Publishing reaching 100 in total.
Finally, the end of the year represented a thrilling new beginning for the CEIBS GEMBA Class of 2023, who arrived at our Shanghai campus for an opening ceremony, welcome banquet, and a weekend of activities. The exceptionally talented, diverse, and driven collection of top executives, drawn from 21 countries and regions across the world, promise to make 2024 one of the most vibrant years at CEIBS in recent memory.
