Although China is a relatively new market for Pandora, the contemporary jewellery company operates over 200 stores in 50 cities with 1,200 employees around the country. Over the last 20 years, Pandora has also experienced impressive growth outside China. Encouraged by its success around the world, the brand has begun a large-scale transformation effort to capture opportunities in China, with the ambition of making the country one of its largest markets in the world.
During this event, Jacques will discuss driving change and the key elements of the transformation plan he is leading for Pandora to win in China. His presentation will focus on Pandora China’s transformation using consumer, brand, marketing, product, retail and digital insights from the best market research providers globally. Jacques will shed light on Pandora’s plans to raise brand awareness in an overly digital eco-system and how to tackle celebrity partnerships, a loyalty programme that goes beyond basic customer relationship management (CRM), and how to build a community of brand fans.
He will also discuss the need for brands to adjust their product and their calendar to meet Chinese consumers’ expectations and its unique festivals and holidays, and operating in a market where the brand universe needs to be translated in an exciting and stimulating way both online and offline. In addition, he will explore the creation of a relevant experience, building an emotional connection with consumers, how Pandora is adapting its selling ceremony and its in-store services and how it is investing in developing new special features across its digital channels while also driving a stronger partnership with key marketplaces. Finally, Jacques will discuss the career benefits of a transformation experience in today’s fast-changing environment.
About the speaker
As the GM of Pandora China and with a team of over 1,500 Pandorians, Jacques Roizen is leading an ambitious transformation involving more than 200 owned and operated stores in order to drive profitable growth in the highly competitive Chinese market.
Throughout his career, Jacques has held roles in strategy, transformation, e-commerce, offline retail operations, and apparel. Having worked with multiple luxury, premium and international brands on their digital strategies in China, he also brings a wealth of experience from within the Chinese digital landscape.
Jacques has been at the centre of the Chinese retail and fashion markets for the past six years. Prior to joining Pandora, he was EVP Digital Transformation and New Ventures at Baozun eCommerce (the largest e-commerce operator in China). Before that, he served as CEO of Etam China, a fast fashion retailer with 3,000+ owned and operated stores. Before moving to China, Jacques spent 16 years in New York, including three years at McKinsey & Company, and 12 years with Alvarez & Marsal, a turnaround and interim management firm. Jacques is a French national and holds an MBA from Columbia University in New York.
